With a 100% focus on health design, we understand the current forces that impact our client’s businesses.
E4H’s process supports our clients’ existing and future service lines, with an understanding of competitiveness, system dynamics, and economics.
We design for community hospitals, academic medical centers, life science laboratories, R&D spaces, children’s hospitals, mental health facilities, ambulatory care centers, rehabilitation facilities, assisted living, and medical office buildings, among others. Working collaboratively with clients, together we improve outcomes for patients and families.
Master planning creates a comprehensive roadmap to achieve a client’s vision. This long-term strategy meets current needs while offering flexibility for the evolving healthcare landscape of tomorrow. Using evidenced-based design and work flow consulting, master planning identifies ways to improve the bottom line, not strain it. E4H has completed over 150 master plans for clients ranging from small community hospitals to 1,000-bed medical centers.
E4H’s unique live-design approach encourages dialogue, fosters collaboration, and invests end-users in the process. The rapidly changing forces that affect healthcare organizations require flexible and LEAN design that can grow and change with shifting needs and increased budget demands. E4H’s process drives efficiency in time and budget, providing value to the client and speed to market.
An integrated interior design approach addresses the mission and culture of clients with innovative and thoughtful palettes that appeal to the senses. Longevity and functionality are based on an in-depth knowledge of healthcare operations, infection control, and sustainable materials. E4H also provides furniture & finish coordination for clients to create a turn-key experience.
Medical Real Estate
E4H assists developers, hospitals, physician’s practices, and medical research companies, with site selection, property assessment, real estate investment, long-term development strategies, and project financing. Select services the development team provides include: analysis of individual and group spaces, test-fits, leasing support, budget development, assistance with permit applications, lease and sale agreements, and overall guidance through financing, design, construction, and occupancy phases of project delivery.
Graphic Design, Wayfinding, & Virtual Reality
E4H’s in-house graphic design team integrates words, symbols, and images to enhance the delivery of information, ideas, and messages. Working closely with clients and designers, integrated wayfinding and graphics ensure ease of navigation, communication of culture, and safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Virtual Reality and stunning 3D renderings help translate design for a broad audience. E4H designers are able to support communicating your vision to boards, communities, investors, and users through engaging and immersive renderings and graphics.
In addition to healthcare expertise, the E4H Health Sciences Team specializes in the design of complex laboratory and future-forward spaces where innovation can thrive. We believe in the art of creating environments that inspire users to discover next generation technologies which enhance the human experience and positively effect our world.
The meetings were expertly led by senior architects allowing us to efficiently use our time and to make sure that the designs responded to changes in our clinical needs. Even at times when we faced difficult decisions or discourse, E4H's team assisted us in leading through these in a professional and timely manner. E4H's depth of healthcare expertise and code compliance knowledge kept us on track and within our budget.

I have had the privilege of working with E4H on a major, multi-faceted project at Harvard Medical School. E4H brings a wealth of experience and expertise as well as a keen eye for aesthetics, color and incorporation of artwork that is respectful of the history and traditions of the institution and the building but also contemporary. HMS has benefited greatly from our collaboration with the E4H team.

E4H designed a very functional as well as beautiful hospital for our county. Everything works, everything flows, and when concerns did arise you handled them promptly and with our interest first.
