NEWYORK-PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL INPATIENT PSYCHIATRY UNIT

The new design for the Greenberg Pavilion 11 North Inpatient Psychiatry Unit converted a shared adult/adolescent psychiatric inpatient unit into an adult unit with 32 beds, which extended the program space for inpatient care. The nursing station overlooking the main central activity room will maximize visibility and safety while the two visiting/consult rooms will provide privacy with electronically-controlled polycarbonate panels. A new entrance with enhanced staff control and the addition of lockers for visitor belongings will create a safer patient environment.

A new separate dining/activity space for patients and families will be combined with an adjacent quiet activity room by means of movable electronically-controlled partitions. This, along with the iPod docking stations, laptop work areas, and the TV lounge will provide a more patient-friendly atmosphere.
