JACOBI MEDICAL CENTER NYC HEALTH & HOSPITAL CORPORATION

This master plan, the third phase of a major campus design initiative, divided the hospital’s original 12-story building into two new building additions. The plan involved several departmental relocations and a review of space needs hospital wide.

The process included the review of an earlier master plan study as well as a series of blocking and stacking diagrams. Three existing buildings were surveyed in order to show current occupants and space allocations from which a functional adjacency matrix was developed. The master plan was developed through a collaborative process with departmental and administrative representatives in order to determine their programmatic needs and projected growth.
