Moulee Basumallik, a designer and planner based in E4H’s NY office, recently presented a renovation project at the AIANY Design for Health Committee for the December virtual meeting. The $10 million renovation is underway at Gaylord Specialty Healthcare – a specialty hospital in Wallingford, CT – as officials there look to modernize 100 rooms, some of which were constructed in the 1950s. The renovation covers all but 22 of the hospital’s private patient rooms spread across four floors on its Lyman and Hooker buildings. Nurses’ stations, family areas, and staff rooms also are being renovated to create what hospital officials said will be a more functional and aesthetically pleasing environment.
