SETON MEDICAL CENTER HARKER HEIGHTS
LHP Hospital Group, Inc. (LHP) and the Seton Family of Hospitals formed a joint venture to develop a new 20-acre healthcare campus to replace the aging Kings Daughters Hospital and accommodate displaced physicians’ practices. The design directive was to create a responsive healthcare destination within the communities of Killeen and Harker Heights. LHP worked successfully with over 24 key physicians and healthcare executives to design a cost-effective chassis capable of projected expansion and growth. Six consecutive “Fast Track/Early Release” packages were employed to exploit the speed to market agenda and reduce construction expense through value added design.
The resulting project was built ahead of the projected schedule and within budget. The total construction cost addressed the entire site development including medical office building pad sites, a shell floor for future beds, and a shell expansion for OR suite expansion. The 83-bed facility is 162,150SF with an additional 3rd floor shell of 29,600SF capable of 55 additional beds.
