LAWRENCE GENERAL HOSPITAL

Facilities assessment and master planning services were conducted to provide Lawrence General Hospital with specific guidance for facility expansion. The team provided a physical building and site assessment, conducted a program assessment of existing conditions, and completed an asset assessment to establish the overall asset value of various buildings currently occupied by the hospital. Departmental space program needs were also developed through intensive user group meetings with hospital staff. Three building and site development plan options were produced, including programmatic needs for each facility option and prioritization.

The team implemented a 45,000SF surgical building expansion and renovation as well as infrastructure upgrades. The new surgical facility includes six new operating rooms, including a swing catheterization laboratory, and interventional radiology room. The inpatient renovations created nine single patient rooms with a family area that can comfortably provide for overnight guests, and a new inpatient unit with single and semi-private rooms.

Lawrence General Hospital has been very pleased with the multi-year master facility plan developed by E4H. With E4H’s guidance and design expertise, LGH received approval by the Board of Trustees to proceed with a strategic investment including inpatient renovations, a 42,250SF surgical building expansion and renovation, as well as infrastructure upgrades. The project will enhance Lawrence General Hospital’s ability to provide state-of-the-art care to the Merrimack Valley, utilizing E4H’s patient-centered, forward thinking design.
