INOVA MOUNT VERNON HOSPITAL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
In late 2010, Mt. Vernon Hospital began conceptual planning for a renovation and refurbish approach to address infrastructural issues within their existing emergency department in conjunction with the development of a new eight-bed observation unit nearby. The ED/OBS renovation project provided five new fast track bays, new registration/triage, and new resuscitation and decon rooms. Improvements to the remainder of the existing ED were limited to interior finishes and some electrical upgrades, but not modernization of the physical layout. Since the renovations would occur in and around a functioning emergency department, the project required six major phases and would take about 18 months to complete.
