INOVA MOUNT VERNON HOSPITAL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Constructed in 2016, the new 20,000SF, single-story Emergency Department Addition has (35) Treatment Rooms consisting of (2) Resuscitation, (2) Negative-Air, (4) Behavioral Health, and (1) OB with the remaining as universal (26) Exam Rooms to flex as Fast-Track as needed. The rear of the ED has a 10-Exam Room unit with independent support spaces, and direct connection from the Decon Room & Mass-Decon showers that can be closed off from the rest of the ED and changed over to 100% exhaust & negative pressure via a flexible HVAC system. There are no full-height partitions within the core nursing area, and the large LCD monitors are hung from a continuous overhead rail system allowing for unobstructed visibility to patient treatment bays across the unit. The addition and foundations are structurally designed to support (4) future floors above consistent with the long-range campus plan.
