Mount Sinai Hospital Emergency Dept. Highlight

As part of a multi-phase, five-year renovation to modernize the 30-year-old Emergency Department at Mount Sinai Hospital’s Guggenheim Pavilion, E4H designed a state-of-the-art facility that prioritizes patient flow and specialized care. The project included the creation of a Rapid Medical Evaluation Unit to expedite treatment for low-acuity patients, allowing the Acute Unit to focus on higher-acuity cases.

Within this modernization, the Pediatric Emergency Department was expanded and upgraded to serve a growing population, featuring a dedicated entrance from the walk-in waiting room to eliminate pediatric foot traffic in the adult ED. The Pediatric ED offers a range of treatment spaces, including vertical spaces for low-acuity patients near the entrance, open bays and private rooms for higher-acuity care, and a larger family treatment room for accommodating multiple pediatric patients from the same family.

Additionally, a separate entrance adjacent to the ambulance drop-off ensures swift access for high-acuity pediatric cases, enhancing the hospital’s capacity to provide targeted, efficient care for patients of all ages.
