WENTWORTH-DOUGLASS HOSPITAL – PEASE MEDICAL OFFICE BUILDINGS

E4H is the campus architect for Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Since working on their campuses starting in 2015, we have completed over 50 projects both acute and ambulatory, totaling over $100M in construction costs. E4H started work on the Pease Tradeport campus in 2016, first completing a 12,500SF renovation which included Urgent Care, X-ray, blood draw, and primary care.

With the strategic opportunity to grow this campus, Wentworth Douglass purchased two adjacent lots and required an accelerated delivery of two freestanding medical office buildings.

The first 25,000SF facility, which opened in June 2019, included a cancer center with Infusion, Radiation Oncology, a LinAc, as well as multi-specialty Care. The second 60,000SF facility, slated to open in October 2019 will include a CT scanner, MRI. X-ray rooms, women’s health, labs, and two floors of multi-specialty practices.

Utilizing E4H’s “Dartmouth model” the multi-specialty practices were created with a flexible, modular design allowing practices to shrink and grow according to demand and scheduling. Collaborative on-stage and off-stage staff areas reduced the square footage required to support private physician offices by providing a variety of work areas for the caregiving team. The 60,000SF medical office building was designed with the ability to expand with an additional 60,000SF to one side, this expansion could share the central lobby creating a seamless patient navigation experience.
