MONTEFIORE MEDICAL CENTER

The Montefiore Medical Center Organ Transplant Outpatient Clinic is located on the 2nd floor of the Rosenthal Pavilion, one of Montefiore Medical Center’s original structures designed in 1910 as a sanatorium for Tuberculosis patients.

Its symmetrical pavilions connected by arcaded corridors and its rooms with French doors opening onto exterior balconies allowed patients’ access to the fresh air and sunshine of the Bronx countryside. The new design maintained access to natural light while providing up to date clinical space for patients recovering from organ transplant procedures. The waiting areas open onto the original balconies on one side, while the other side is separated from the exterior by wood and glass partitions and doors. The exam rooms are located along the exterior sharing in the light and air.
