JACOBI MEDICAL CENTER – AMBULATORY CARE PAVILION

The design of the ambulatory care pavilion, in association with Pei Cobb Freed & Partners Architects, was part of the second phase of the planned consolidation and modernization of the entire Jacobi Medical Center campus. The master plan provided for the transformation of the existing campus, built in the 1950s, into an efficient, state-of-the-art hospital complex.

Some major components of the four-story building include clinical exam rooms for ambulatory care, pediatrics, surgery, women’s health and medicine, a vaulted sky lit gallery, and a new entrance off Pelham Parkway South. A new atrium and a vertical core create a dynamic outpatient entrance, public space, and wayfinding organized for public circulation. Waiting areas face the exterior wooded landscape.
