ELMHURST HOSPITAL CENTER

Elmhurst Hospital Center’s total ambulatory visits were in excess of 600,000 per year. In order to improve the quality and efficiency of their services and the satisfaction of their patients, the master plan reorganized the allocation of space and investigated the potential for development of new space.

The master plan aligned the center’s departments and consolidated services previously spread throughout different buildings on and off campus. The study: projected future needs for ambulatory care services; assessed the services that can be accommodated within existing space; reorganized and rationalized the allocation of space for the projected services; investigated the potential for development of new space; explored the efficiencies to be gained by redistribution of existing space; explored the potential of sharing services with other institutions; examined options for development, including projected costs.
