ARIZONA INSTITUTE OF UROLOGY 

The Arizona Institute of Urology was built in a medical office building in The La Cholla Professional Park in Tucson, Arizona. When designing a cancer center, the most important aspect to consider is the patient’s experience.  Cancer patients are undergoing, arguably, the most dramatic time of their lives while receiving radiation therapy. Because of this, it was important that the Center be designed to make the user’s experience as soothing and comfortable as possible.  This calming aesthetic was achieved by thoughtful decisions regarding circulation, color, materials, and lighting.

The physicians of The Arizona Institute of Urology wished to have a very modern design aesthetic to match their brand. Design of the facility attempted to balance the contemporary design aesthetic with calming earthen elements and motifs.  Integration of sandstone across the façade and a neutral interior color palette sought to evoke the natural environment around the Center.
