Black lives matter. We believe in a culture of inclusiveness, diversity, and equality.

Now is the time for us to be present and stand alongside one another against racial injustices like those of George Floyd. We joined many across America in a Moment of Reflection on June 4th (coinciding with George Floyd’s memorial service) as we acknowledged this long overdue awakening.

We join the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), in calling on members and the broader professional community to condemn racism and take an active role in eliminating the racial biases that account for a myriad of social, economic, and health disparities, and most importantly, result in the loss of human lives.

We resolve to increase our level of understanding and increase our level of compassion.

We commit to educating ourselves and openly discussing solutions.

We commit to fostering an environment where everyone is valued and respected.

We will continue to employ internal anti-bias training programs and engage in conversations about creating a workplace and community that embraces and promotes all forms of diversity.

We understand this message alone is not enough, however we stand strong and in solidarity to sharpen our resolve to work toward justice, truth, and equality for all.

Below is a link to a powerful video that educates and informs on racism, system racism, social injustice, rioting and the hurt African Americans are feeling today.

The Design for All documentary is an additional resource which “examines how an inclusive approach to design affects culture and improves the ways we relate to the built environment, to our communities, and to one another.”

Thank you for joining us in being part of the solution.
